At first, Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai Circuit, Sunday (4/17/2011), was normal for Button. Until that embarrassing mistake occurred when the British driver will make the first pit stops. Rather than go to McLaren pit box, Button even enter Red Bull pit box at the same time Sebastian Vettel entering pit too. Realizing his mistake, Button then move to McLaren pit box (next to Redbull Box).
Some people then joked that event connects with the subconscious desire Button to join Red Bull is considered the best car owners the last two years.

"I do not know what makes people interested to stop in our garage," laughed Vettel as quoted GP Update comment on it.
"I was a bit surprised to see Jenson get into my garage in front of me exactly. I hope he really do it (move to Red Bull - ed)," added Vettel still joking tone.
Button was not the first, and probably will not be the last, too, lost in the pit. Vettel has ever done while still being Toro Rosso driver with a stop at the Red Bull pit area. Button had explained the event and assess if you lose a few seconds not the main determinants of why he got to finish fourth. McLaren himself has forgotten these unique events.
"I am sure, that's a very comical but he's actually not a person who likes to make many mistakes," commented principal McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh, in Supersport.
